This Privacy Policy explains how Kalorist Global Inc. (“Kalorist,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Kalorist mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
1. Definitions
- “Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked with you.
- “Sensitive Health Information” means health, medical, or biometric data, including any lab or blood test data you choose to share with Kal.
- “Sub-processor” means a third party we engage to process Personal Information on our behalf.
- “Service” means the Kalorist mobile application, website, and related offerings.
2. Who We Are
Kalorist Global Inc. is a Delaware corporation headquartered at 8 The Green, STE R, Dover, DE 19901, USA. Kalorist is the data controller responsible for your information under this Policy.
3. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account information: name, email address, password
- Profile information: age, gender, height, weight, activity level, dietary preferences, and health/nutrition goals
- Food and nutrition data you log: meals, photos of food, barcode scans, text descriptions, favorites, saved recipes, and saved restaurant menu items
- Communications you send us: support requests, feedback, and messages to Kal
- Sensitive Health Information you choose to share: including blood test results or other lab data you provide to Kal for nutritional guidance (see Section 6)
- Payment information, processed by our third-party payment processors (we do not store full payment card numbers ourselves)
Information collected automatically:
- Device information: device type, operating system, unique device identifiers
- Usage data: app interactions, session length, features used, crash logs
- Approximate location (derived from IP address), where relevant to app functionality
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website (see Section 7)
Information from third-party integrations, only if you connect them:
- Apple Health and Google Health Connect: activity, workouts, and health metrics you authorize us to access
- Wearable integrations (e.g., Whoop, Withings), where available and connected by you
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, personalize, and improve the Service, including Kal’s coaching, adaptive target adjustments, and nutrition insights
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests
- Maintain the security and integrity of the Service, including fraud prevention
- Analyze usage trends to improve our food database, coaching accuracy, and product features
- Comply with legal obligations
- Send you marketing communications, where permitted, and always with an opt-out available
We do not sell your personal information for money. Where applicable law (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act) treats certain advertising-related data sharing as a “sale” or “share,” see Section 10 for your rights and how to opt out.
5. Legal Bases for Processing (EU/UK/EEA Users)
If you are located in the EU, UK, or EEA, we process your information under the following legal bases:
- Contractual necessity – to provide the Service you’ve signed up for
- Consent – for optional features (e.g., connecting Apple Health, sharing blood test data with Kal, marketing communications), which you may withdraw at any time
- Legitimate interests – for security, fraud prevention, and improving the Service, balanced against your rights
- Legal obligation – where required to comply with applicable law
6. Sensitive Health Information
Kal, our AI nutrition coach, can provide nutritional suggestions based on health information you choose to share, including blood test or lab results. This is a special, more sensitive category of information under laws including the EU/UK GDPR (“special category data”) and certain US state health-privacy laws.
Important:
- Sharing this information with Kal is always optional and initiated by you.
- Kal provides nutritional guidance only – it does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice, and does not replace consultation with a qualified healthcare provider.
- We apply additional access controls to this category of data and do not use it for advertising purposes.
- You may request deletion of any health information you’ve shared at any time (see Section 10).
7. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including third-party advertising and analytics tools such as Meta (Facebook) Pixel, Google Analytics, and TikTok Pixel, to measure the performance of our marketing campaigns and understand how visitors use our site.
These tools may collect information such as pages visited, referral source, and device/browser information, and may be used to show you relevant Kalorist ads on other platforms.
Your choices:
- Where required by law (including for EU/UK/EEA visitors), we will request your consent via a cookie banner before non-essential cookies are set.
- US residents can opt out of this data sharing through our “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” mechanism (Section 10) or by enabling a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in a supported browser, which we honor as an opt-out request.
- You can also manage cookies through your browser settings at any time.
8. How We Share Your Information – Sub-processors
We engage the following categories of Sub-processors, solely to operate and improve the Service. We do not sell your Personal Information, and we require our Sub-processors to protect your information under contractual data protection terms.

On AI processing specifically: Kal is powered in part by third-party large language model technology, accessed via API. Under our agreements with these providers, data we send via API – including your food logs and any health information you choose to share – is not used by them to train their models, and is not retained by them beyond what’s needed to process your request. We select AI infrastructure providers who meet this standard as a condition of working with us.
We do not share your Sensitive Health Information with advertising or analytics providers, under any circumstances.
We may also disclose information where required to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of Kalorist, our users, or the public.
9. Automated Decision-Making
Kal automatically adjusts your nutrition targets based on your logged data and check-ins. This is a form of automated processing intended to personalize your coaching experience – it does not produce legal or similarly significant effects on you, and you can always review, question, or ask Kal to explain any adjustment, or contact us to request human review of how your data is being used.
The accuracy and usefulness of these automated adjustments depend directly on the completeness and accuracy of the data you provide – incomplete or infrequent logging will produce correspondingly less accurate or less personalized targets and insights.
10. Outcomes & No Guarantee of Results
Kal’s guidance, insights, and automated target adjustments are generated from the information you log and provide. Kalorist does not guarantee that using the Service – or following Kal’s guidance – will produce any specific health, weight, muscle-gain, or body-composition outcome for you individually. Outcomes depend on factors we do not collect or control as part of this Policy, including your consistency and accuracy in logging, your engagement with Kal’s recommendations, your individual physiology and medical history, and circumstances outside the Service.
This Policy governs how we handle your data; it does not create any promise about the results of using that data. The full disclaimer governing outcomes, including the factors that affect your results and your responsibilities as a user, is set out in “No Guarantee of Results” and “Your Responsibilities” in our Terms & Conditions, which we encourage you to read alongside this Policy.
11. Your Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, correct inaccurate information, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, email privacy@kalorist.com or use the opt-out link in our website footer. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
If you are in the EU, UK, or EEA (GDPR/UK GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of, and receive a portable copy of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, email privacy@kalorist.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
All users, everywhere: You can access, update, or delete most of your information directly within the app under Account Settings, or by contacting us at privacy@kalorist.com. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30-45 days).
12. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records (such as payment and tax records) for longer periods under applicable law.
13. Data Security
We take the security of your information seriously and apply layered technical and organizational safeguards, including:
- Encryption in transit: all data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS/SSL protocols.
- Encryption at rest: stored data is encrypted using our cloud infrastructure’s standard encryption practices.
- Infrastructure security: Kalorist is hosted on Google Cloud, whose infrastructure maintains industry-recognized security certifications (including SOC 2 and ISO 27001) at the platform level.
- Access controls: internal access to Personal Information, and particularly Sensitive Health Information, is limited to what is necessary to operate the Service.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your Personal Information, we will notify you via push and in-app notifications, emails, our social media, and any applicable regulator without undue delay, and in accordance with applicable law.
14. International Data Transfers
Kalorist is based in the United States, and your information may be processed and stored in the US or other countries where our Sub-processors operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers of personal data from the EU/UK/EEA.
15. Age Requirement
Kalorist is intended for users 16 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we learn that we have collected information from a user under 16, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a user under 16 has provided us information, contact privacy@kalorist.com.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective Date” above and, for material changes, provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification or email).
