Do Carbs Actually Make You Fat? What the Science Says

Fat storage only occurs when your total energy intake exceeds your total energy expenditure over time, regardless of where those calories come from.

Why Extreme Restriction Backfires

Forcing yourself to cut out carbohydrates is not just scientifically unnecessary; it can also be counterproductive.

Rigid dieting strategies, which involve placing strict rules on yourself or declaring entire food groups “forbidden,” are consistently associated with higher BMIs, increased mood disturbances, and more frequent overeating or bingeing episodes.
